🚀 3.2.1. To New Beginnings ::: Atomic Scaling
Feb 21, 2025
Do you feel like me that something’s off with the world right now? I’ve launched 3 companies, invested in a dozen more, got 2 unicorns, and I still find the energy of a new beginning to be special — sometimes even overwhelming. By this time of year, you’ve hopefully made your yearly vision board, outlined quarterly objectives, completed 1 monthly review, and tracked your progress with 6 consecutive weekly scorecards.
Yet, as my friend Sophie (former GM of Voodoo, now launching a leadership retreat) recently pointed out, you might feel that something’s off with the direction of the world right now. Here are three ideas that might help put things in perspective:
3 Ideas for Navigating New Beginnings:
I. Micro-Corrections Over Reinvention.
Planes don’t fly in a straight line; they’re constantly adjusting. Instead of overhauling everything, make small changes—like tweaking your morning routine, adjusting your bedtime, or shifting your focus—rather than questioning everything.
II. Momentum Over Perfection.
As my friend Alain, former CEO at Microsoft, once told me, the biggest trap is stop-and-go progress. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Move forward, even imperfectly. A rolling stone gathers clarity.
III. Balance Inputs and Outputs
Feeling overwhelmed? It’s often from consuming too much and creating too little. Make something, take a decision, or cut unnecessary noise. Clarity comes from doing, not just thinking.

Let the Universe re-organize. Step outside, take five deep breaths. When was the last time you went for a 20-minute walk with no destination or stepped into a sauna? If you’re in Helsinki, try Kotiharjun Sauna. Let go of control and trust that clarity will emerge when you stop forcing it. Sometimes, stepping back is the key to moving forward.
